Damage to pallet racking is an inevitable consequence of having fork lift trucks working in confined spaces, however, 90% of cases show damage to the first 600mm of the front upright. Introducing…RediRack’s Sacrificial Leg.

A unique solution for repairing damaged welded RediRack frames with minimum disruption and a fraction of the cost.

What is a Sacrificial Leg?

Pallet Rack Frame

Created back in 1988 the Sacrificial Leg was designed to prevent the need for whole frames to be replaced when damage happens on the front upright of a welded RediRack frame. Tried and tested it is now used in some of the UK’s busiest warehouses, it can be taken out and replaced – in effect you have a ‘bolted leg’ attached to a welded frame.

RediRack frames are now available in welded and bolted options. RediRack are the only genuine manufacturers or RediRack and the Sacrificial Leg.

What are the benefits of the Sacrificial Leg?

Sacrificial legs supplied by RediRack offer multiple benefits:

Cost-Effective

A Sacrificial Leg will last as long as damage does not occur. In the event of damage and if a replacement is deemed necessary then a replacement is far more economical than replacing a whole frame.

If you aren’t sure contact us and one of our SARI’s (SEMA Approved Racking Inspectors) can advise on the best course of action.

Minimises Disruption

Replacing a Sacrificial Leg is a lot quicker than replacing a whole frame. The job can usually be completed in less than 30 minutes – meaning labour and replacement costs are kept to a minimum.

Depending on the damage and risk level racking may need to be off-loaded, having a Sacrificial Leg can allow warehouse operations to resume more quickly.

Health & Safety

A Sacrificial Leg must always be installed by a SEIRS-registered installer, as it forms part of the wider Pallet Racking structure.

PUWER (Provisions and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) categorises storage equipment as work equipment that must undergo regular monitoring and should be designed, installed, inspected and maintained by professional and trained experts.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 recommends that only a technically competent person should carry out installations and inspections to minimising the risk of accidents, injuries, or damage to property

RediRack has an in-house team of SEIRS installers and SARI inspectors and as a full manufacturing member of SEMA you are guaranteed a product and service that meets the highest industry standards.

RediRack are SEMA Full Members, having in-house qualified SARI Inspectors and have a team of SEIRS Approved Installers

Can a Sacrificial Leg be installed retrospectively?

A Sacrificial Leg is a factory-fitted option, under no circumstances should be fitted retrospectively. Our in-house design team will work with you to decide if your project requires a Sacrificial Leg or if other options might be more cost-efficient.

As a concept-to-completion service, we endeavour to provide you with the best available options for your space and the knowledge to make the most informed choices about your racking.

It should only ever be fitted by a trained professional to make sure you maintain compliance and safety in the workplace. Looking to order Spares and Repairs? Get in touch.
