DON’T COMPROMISE THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF YOUR REDIRACK RACKING SYSTEMS
RediRack’s in-house SARI’s (Sema Approved Racking Inspectors) offer RediRack users an annual racking survey as per current HSG76 guidance (Warehouse and Storage: A Guide to Health & Safety).
A SARI satisfies the criteria of the HSE for a technically competent person to carry out an annual inspection.
HSG76 guidance also gives the following recommendations for annual racking inspections:
‘Expert Inspections’
- 646 A technically competent person should carry out inspections at intervals of not more than 12 months. A written report should be submitted to your PRRS (Person Responsible for Racking Safety) with observations and proposals for any required action.
- 647 A technically competent person might be a trained specialist within the organisation, a specialist from your racking supplier (as per RediRack’s SARI’s) or an independent qualified rack inspector.
There are two types of inspection reports that are available in the market:
- 1. Report damaged items only - this does not constitute a SARI report and may not satisfy clause 646 above
- 2. A SARI report
RediRack’s inspectors use SEMA’s traffic light reporting system which indicates the classification of the action that’s required over a certain period of time and provide detailed reports as shown in the table to the right.
- A Green classification requires surveillance where defined damage limits are not exceeded.
- An Amber damage classification requires action as soon as possible (within 4 weeks).
- A Red classification indicates serious damage that requires immediate offloading.
